Goal Setting: I want you to think about your goals for this class. What grade do you want to get for this class? I want you at this time to set your letter grade for both quarters and for the semester. Be realistic. After you decide on a grade, then I want you to answer the following questions:
- What grade do I want to achieve for this quarter? this semester?
- What steps will I take to ensure that I accomplish my goal? Be specific. What are you going to do in order to accomplish your goal.
- How often will I check my dream goal to the realistic grade in this class?
- If my dream goal and realistic goal are off, what am I going to do to get back on track?
Goal setting is important. The more serious you take this goal, the better you will do at reaching the desired outcome for this class.
Keyboarding Syllabus: If you lose your keyboarding syllabus, you can click on the link below to access a new copy for your binder.
Supplies: You will receive your Supplies sheet today. Supllies are due next Tuesday, August 26, 2008. If you lose your Supplies sheet, you may download another sheet by clicking on the link below. You will need to have your Supplies sheet in your binder, so don’t lose it.
Keyboard basics: We will go over the handout on keyboard basics. You will have a quiz over this handout this Friday, August 22 during 1st hour. Keeping in line with your goals for the class, make sure you study and prepare for the quiz. It is important that you take time to learn how to key correctly. Correct fingering allows you to cut down on errors, which means you will spend less time on your work, and as such, you will be saving time. If you lose your handout, you may download another handout by clicking on the link below.

Keyboard Skills Test: Today, you will take a keyboard skills test. This will test where you are at on your keyboarding skills. At the end of the class, you will take another quiz to see how you have improved. This will be part of your final exam in this class. The test is on MicroType, so you will need to follow directions given to you in class. I will keep a copy of your test on file so that I will be able to compare it with the end of the year. Listen for instructions in class on how to print out your quiz.
MicroType Alphabetical Keyboard: After you have taken your quiz, we will begin working in MicroType. When everyone has finished their quiz, I will take you through the process of the Microtype software. By the end of the week, you should be through 1 & 2 (Learn the Home Row & Review). After you complete each section, please run off a copy of your work.
